Captain Rug Wash was first spotted flying over the windy roads of Dartmoor. Although new evidence has come to light over the years that he has been spotted as far west as Penzance and as far east as Bristol. Spotted in the early part of 2009, locals could not understand why he wondered around looking so sad and lost. A couple of brave locals approached him and asked him if he was okay. Fringe damage on a Chinese Rug
This is a short episode about damage on a Chinese oval rug fringe. This can happen for several reasons, it could happen because, like this rug, its in a heavy walk area in the lounge. And secondary it could be to a hoover going right over the fringe.

This is a Chinese tufted rug and as you can see the pile is quite densely knotted and the staining has sat on top of the fibres and not penetrated down into the pile of the rug. You can see more photos of Chinese rugs over at Plymouth Rug Cleaning.
This photo shows the dry soil that came out of the rug after we used our RugBadger on it. The soil stays trapped more in a deep pile, densely knotted rug, then it would do in a flat weave for example.

Damaged fringe on a Chinese rug
Above is a photo of a fringe on a machine made oval Chinese rug. As you can see the fringe is not part of the rug, as you will see on a hand knotted rug. On machine made rugs the fringe is put on after with a material covering up the latex on the back of the rug.
The damaged has occurred because the rug was in a heavy foot traffic area, also the rug was not properly hoovered.
With rugs like these, and hand knotted rugs you have to be careful to not let the beater bar of the hoover go over the fringe.
